Roger Mayweather, 58, respected professional boxer and trainer, passed away on March 17th, 2020. Born on April 24, 1961, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he was a champion boxer, fighting as a featherweight then a junior lightweight in the 1980s, beginning his training career soon after his retirement from the ring. He trained professional fighters such as his nephew Floyd Mayweather Jr, his brother Jeff Mayweather, and his other nephews, Roger Mayweather Jr, and Jeff Mayweather. Throughout his career, Roger Mayweather compiled a remarkable professional record of 59 wins, 28 losses and 2 draws. In 1998 he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Roger Mayweather will be fondly remembered as a dedicated mentor, instilling strong work ethic and boxing fundamentals to his charges, and as an exceptional fighter in the ring. He was known for his relentless punch output and incredible toughness, qualities that won him world recognition in his own right. Roger is survived by his brother Jeff and by his numerous nieces and nephews.
