With sadness, we announce the passing of Roddy Piper on July 31st, 2015 at the age of 61. Roddy Piper, otherwise known as “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, was an iconic figure in professional wrestling. His career spanned nearly four decades and brought much success in the world of wrestling. He was also an actor, appearing in such films as They Live and A história de Ferdinand Magellan. Roddy Piper was born Roderick Toombs on April 17th, 1954 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and was heavily involved in sports from a young age, competing in baseball, football, and boxing. He began training as a professional wrestler at the young age of 15 with The Stomper, a professional wrestler from Southern Ontario. Roddy Piper’s wrestling career quickly flourished, and he became recognized as one of the top wrestlers in the world. He won several championships and accolades, and graced the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) main stage many times. Even after his retirement from wrestling in 1996, Roddy Piper continued to make occasional appearances. Roddy Piper leaves behind a loving wife and four children, as well as many friends and fans. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
