Roddy McDowall, beloved actor and photographer, passed away on October 3, 1998, at the age of 70. McDowall was born in London, England on September 17, 1928. He grew up in an acting family and began performing on stage in childhood, moving to the US in 1940 with his mother. During his long career on stage and screen, McDowall achieved fame through roles such as Cornelius in the original Planet of the Apes series (1968-1973) and Tim OECD in The Third Day (1965). In addition to his acting career, McDowall used his talent to become an acclaimed photographer. His impeccable portfolio included pictures of celebrities, landscapes, and even the Kennedys. McDowall was well respected by friends and colleagues alike, and was nominated for a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and an Emmy. He is survived by family, friends, and fans around the world who will remember him for his charm, wit, and talent.
