On August 11, 2014, the world was shocked to hear that beloved actor, comedian and humanitarian, Robin Williams, had passed away at the age of 63. Born on July 21, 1951, Williams was raised in the suburbs of Detroit, later moving to California where he attended Claremont Men's College before transferring to the Julliard School for drama. It was during his years at Julliard that Williams cultivated his comedic talents, honing the craft of improvisation. Williams experienced his breakthrough role as an alien in the hit television sitcom Mork & Mindy, and went on to star in Hollywood hits such as Dead Poets Society and Mrs. Doubtfire, earning an Academy Award, two Emmys, two Screen Actors Guild awards and five Grammys for his dazzling performances and comedy. Most notably, Williams was beloved for his remarkable philanthropic work, diligently devoted to a variety of charities impacting the environment, education and the health of others. Williams is survived by his three children: Zelda, Cody and Zachary; his wife, Susan Schneider; and his extensive network of friends and fans alike. He will be remembered for his talent, laughter and generosity.
