Robert Wolders, beloved husband, father, grandfather, actor and humanitarian, died peacefully on July 12, 2018 in Los Angeles. He was 81 years old. Robert Wolders was born in the Netherlands in 1936 and immigrated to the United States in 1954. He appeared in a number of television shows and feature films but is best known for his nine-year role as Lew Ayres in the television series Laredo, which ran from 1965-1973. Robert was committed to a number of humanitarian causes through his combined passion for acting and interests in filmmaking, education, and the environment. He served as a board member for The Thacher School and chapter president of The International Wildlife Film Festival. Robert married one of Hollywood’s biggest actresses, Audrey Hepburn, in 1980 until her death in 1993. Together they supported UNICEF and the completion of the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund. He is survived by his daughter, two stepsons, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Robert will be remembered as a kind and generous man whose spirit and kindness will be cherished and long remembered.
