On March 6th, 2017, Robert Osborne passed away at the age of 84. Robert Osborne was a beloved film historian, host, and actor best known for his work with Turner Classic Movies. He began his career with TCM in 1994 as the primary host of the network, helping viewers understand and appreciate classic films from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Additionally, he provided extensive commentary on each film, allowing audiences to understand their historical and cultural context. Throughout the years, Osborne wrote a column for The Hollywood Reporter entitled "The Weekly Osborne"; he authored several books - including his own memoir, 80 Years of the Oscar - and contributed to other television broadcasts. He also returned to acting in 2009, filming a series of short films for TCM's "Robert Osborne's Welcome to the Movies". In addition, he was inducted as the first official member of the TCM Hall of Fame in 2016. Robert Osborne will be remembered fondly as a vital part of film history and culture, inspiring others with his vast knowledge and appreciation for classic movies.
