It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Richard Strauss, who passed away on September 8, 1949, at the age of 85. Richard Strauss was one of the most influential composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is widely recognized for his groundbreaking opera "Der Rosenkavalier," as well as his "Four Last Songs" symphony. Born in Munich in 1864, Strauss studied both piano and composition at the Munich Conservatoire. During his career, Strauss wrote more than 500 compositions and achieved critical acclaim in both Germany and abroad. An admirer of the late Austrian composer Johannes Brahms, Strauss focused largely on tone poetry, as well as symphonic and chamber music. The recipient of multiple prestigious awards, Strauss continued to work until the end of his life. His works remain esteemed and celebrated worldwide. We shall honor his memory and continue to be inspired by his music.
