Richard Crenna, the veteran actor known for his roles in movies such as "The Sand Pebbles" and television series such as "The Real McCoys" and "The Super", passed away on October 17, 2003 at the age of 76. Crenna was born on November 30, 1926 in Los Angeles, California and moved to Van Nuys at the age of 3. He began honing his acting skills from a young age, debuting on screen at the age of 12 in the 1939 movie "The Medical Student". Crenna was a mainstay of the horror genre in the 1950s, with roles in films such as "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and "The Great Bank Robbery". He received acclaim for his roles in the 1960 films "The Sand Pebbles" and "The Last Sunset". In the 1960s, he transitioned on to television, with roles in shows such as "The Real McCoys" from 1962 to 1965. He also had starring roles in the legal drama "The Law and Mr. Jones" and the crime drama "Paris 7000". Crenna returned to the big screen to play the role of Walter Denton in "Our Miss Brookes" from 1966 to 1971, and continued to appear regularly in both television and film throughout his career. Richard Crenna was an award-winning actor who worked in the entertainment industry for over five decades. He will be remembered for his memorable performances in various mediums.
