Jesse Earl Clayton, better known as actor and comedian Redd Foxx, passed away on November 11th, 1991 at 68 years old. Foxx was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 9th, 1922. After dropping out of high school, Foxx joined the Navy during World War II. After his service concluded, he pursued his career as a comedian and singer. In 1955, Foxx began performing a stand-up act that eventually landed him his own television, radio, and Las Vegas stage shows. His stint as "Sanford and Son" on the series of the same name earned him national recognition, and he went on to appear in more sitcoms and film roles before retirement. Foxx had been married to Betty Jean Harris between 1960 and 1965. He is survived by his children Ynez, Debraca, Nicole and Frenchie. At the time of his death, Foxx remained an influential part of the entertainment world, having made his name as a comedian and actor in televisions and films for the span of five decades. He will be remembered for his presence on the small screen and his sharp wit.
