Raquel Welch, the actress and sex symbol who shot to fame in the 1960s with her trailblazing roles in Hollywood movies, has died aged 82. Born in Chicago in 1940, Welch got her start in show business as a model and soon moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She quickly landed a string of high-profile roles in films such as "One Million Years BC" and "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!", which helped to cement her status as a sex symbol and major Hollywood star. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Welch continued to take on starring roles in films and TV shows, and also returned to her modeling career. She was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1998 and received an honorary Academy Award in 2017. Raquel Welch is survived by her two children, Damon and Tahnee.
