Rance Howard, beloved actor, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2017 at the age of 89. Rance was born June 17, 1928 in Oklahoma to the late Ethel Cleo and Leonard Richard Howard. He was a renowned American actor whose career spanned more than seven decades. Rance made his film debut in Jonesy in 1955, and went on to appear in over 200 films and TV series. His renowned career included appearances in films such as North by Northwest (1959), Cool Hand Luke (1967), Apollo 13 (1995), and many more. On television, he appeared in classic series such as Gunsmoke, The Andy Griffith Show, Bonanza, The Fugitive, and My Three Sons. Rance often collaborated with his son, the renowned director Ron Howard, in both film and televisions roles. He also worked with screenwriters Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel, appearing in some of their most acclaimed projects, such as Splash (1984), Parenthood (1989), Night Shift (1982), and others. Rance will be remembered for his prolific career and long lasting legacy in Hollywood, and his presence will be greatly missed.
