Rajesh Khanna, the beloved and acclaimed India Bollywood actor, passed away on July 18th, 2012 at the age of 69 in Mumbai, India. Khanna is remembered as the first "superstar" of Indian Cinema, with a career spanning an impressive 50 years of acting from 1966 to 2011, leaving a lasting impression on the film industry that will live on for many more. The actor made his cinematic debut in 1966 with Aakhri Khat and went on to appear in 165 feature films including box-office hits such as Aradhana, Amar Prem, Anand, Daag, Ittefaq, Safar, and Namak Haraam. Khanna was rightly recognized for his prolific work, receiving many awards including a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. He is survived by his two daughters, Twinkle and Rinke Khanna, as well as his second wife, actress Dimple Kapadia. His death marks the end of a legendary and iconic era in Bollywood. Rajesh Khanna will be remembered and cherished for his outstanding contributions to Indian Cinema.
