Rilke was born on December 4th, 1875 in Prague, Bohemia (now Czech Republic). He released several works of poetry, notably the two volumes of "New Poems" (1907 and 1908). He published several novels, his most famous being, The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge (1910), and the novel, The Lay of the Love and Death of Cornet Christopher Rilke (1912). He also wrote several prose works and collections of letters. Rilke is remembered for his immense contribution to the modernist period of German literature. His works focused on modern themes of love, loneliness, and death, as well as existentialism. He also drew inspiration from his wanderings and travels throughout Europe. He is remembered as an artist who challenged the conventions of poetry and literature. Rilke will be sorely missed by his fans and literary admirers, who will remember the legacy of his works for many years to come.

There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love. Washington Irving
