It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Princess Elisabeth of Hesse and by Rhine. She passed away on 18th of July in 1918, at 53 years old. Elisabeth was a loving wife, daughter, mother and friend. She married her husband Ernest Louis, Grand Duke of Hesse and the Rhine in 1894. Together they had four children: Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Hesse; Princess Margaret of Prussia; Prince Maximilian of Hesse; and Prince Wolfgang of Hesse. Elisabeth was a woman of great strength, kindness and elegance. She was an influential and dedicated representative of the House of Hesse and by Rhine, and a member of the Royal Prussian Court. Her humanitarian efforts saw her working to help improve the lives of underprivileged children and the sick. Elisabeth will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, and friend and will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
