Prem Nazir, one of the most iconic and beloved actors of Indian cinema, passed away on January 16, 1989, at the age of 59. Born on April 7, 1936, in Chirayankeezhu, Travancore, Nazir made his acting debut in the Malayalam film industry with the movie "Marumakal" in 1952. He soon rose to fame with his versatile and captivating performances in numerous films. Fondly known as the "Nithyaharitha Nayakan" (Evergreen Hero), Nazir had a career spanning over four decades and appeared in over 600 films. He was known for his ability to effortlessly portray a wide range of characters, from romantic leads to action heroes, and was equally successful in both serious and comedic roles. Nazir received critical acclaim and numerous accolades for his performances, including three Kerala State Film Awards for Best Actor. He also had the honor of receiving the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award, in 1983. Apart from his exceptional acting skills, Nazir was also a skilled playback singer and has lent his voice to several popular songs in his films. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his fans and the film industry. He will always be remembered as a legendary actor who carved a permanent place for himself in the hearts of people.
