Academy Award-nominated actor Powers Boothe, who starred in many notable films and television shows, died at his home in Los Angeles on May 14, 2017, at the age of 68. Boothe was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Curly Bill Brocius in Tombstone and his Emmy-winning performance in Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones. His other widely-known film credits include Red Dawn, Extremities, Sin City, Nixon, and Wild Bill. On television, Boothe earned two Emmy Award nominations for his roles in Philip Marlowe: Private Eye, and the mini-series Hatfields & McCoys. He starred in TV series such as 24, Deadwood, and Nashville, among others. Boothe's accomplished career also included a number of stage roles. He performed on Broadway and Off-Broadway, and in 1983, appeared in a stage production of Shakespeare's Richard III that earned Boothe a Tony Award nomination for Oustanding Actor in a Play. Boothe is survived by his wife Pam and their two children, Tom and Amanda.
