On April 19th, 1906, Pierre Curie passed away at the age of 46. Born in Paris, France, he was an influential and world-renowned physicist and a leading pioneer in radioactivity. He is especially remembered for his discovery of the elements polonium and radium, and his joint work with his wife Marie, who would go on to win a Nobel Prize for her research in 1903. Together, the Curies revolutionized the scientific understanding of radioactivity. Pierre's contributions to science and to the world of physics were immense and far-reaching. He was the recipient of numerous awards throughout his life, such as the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, the Davy Medal, and jointly with Marie, the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics. He will be remembered fondly and forever esteemed as a brilliant scientist and a great mind.
