Long-time conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly has died on September 5, 2016, at the age of 92. Schlafly was born in 1924 in St. Louis, MO, and grew up to become a leading voice in conservative American politics. She was a well-known advocate for traditional values, an opponent of the feminist movement, and was one of the most famous supporters of the Republican Party throughout her long career. In addition to her political activism, Schlafly wrote close to two dozen books and was a tireless organizer of grassroots campaigns. She founded the Eagle Forum organization in 1972 to drive her advocacy and organized conservative activists both online and elsewhere. Schlafly is survived by her six children, 16 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a passionate and effective advocate for her beliefs, who, while vigorously defending her positions, used her advocacy to make her mark in politics and history.
