Peter Allen, a beloved singer, composer, and performer, passed away on June 18th, 1992 at the age of 48. Born in Tenterfield, Australia, Peter showed his musical and theatrical talents early in life, and went on to have a hugely successful international career. He rose to fame through his songwriting lyrics and music, and won numerous awards for his 1970’s hits “I Go to Rio,” “Don’t Cry Out Loud,” and “Arthur’s Theme.” He also created the Tony Award-winning musical The Boy from Oz. His work was recognized in both the music and theatrical communities, and his onstage performances and songwriting will be cherished forever. His tireless work touched many lives, the legacy of which will continue to be felt across the globe. Peter is survived by his loving companion and soulmate, Lawrence Mazzola. His family remembers him as a kind and generous man, and mourn his loss. He will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him.
