Patricia Kennedy Lawford, media icon and member of the renowned Kennedy family, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2006, at 82 years old. A beloved sister of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Senators Edward M. Kennedy and Jean Kennedy Smith, Patricia deservedly earned her place in history as not only a noteworthy member of the Kennedy Dynasty, but also an important pioneer in the media and entertainment business. Patricia's name was also associated with strong advocacy for the successor of her renegade husband, Peter Lawford, as it related to his status in the entertainment industry. During her illustrious career Patricia received several awards in recognition of her involvement in television, most notably an Emmy nomination for "The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca." As a member of the Kennedy family, she worked diligently at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, and was an advocate for the preservation of the Camelot legacy. Patricia is survived by her five siblings, nine nephews and nieces, including Maria Shriver, and her three children.

Death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life’s change agent, it clears out the old to make way for the new. Steve Jobs
