Pat Summitt, widely regarded as the greatest women's college basketball coach of all time, died on June 28th, 2016 at the age of 64. Summitt was born in Clarksville, Tennessee on June 14, 1952 and she rose to become the head coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Vols on April. 18th, 1974, a role that she held for 38 remarkable years. Summitt was the winningest coach in NCAA history, with 1,098 wins in the college ranks. She also won an unprecedented eight NCAA titles. She was voted collegiate coach of the year four times and was given numerous honors throughout her career. In 2011, Summitt was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease, a fight she continued to wage for five years before her untimely death. Summitt is survived by her son Tyler, her mother Hazel, her brother Kenneth and her extended family and friends. Her legacy as a coach and as a person will be remembered for years to come.
