Pat Robertson, the televangelist, entrepreneur and graduate of Washington and Lee University, died on June 8th, 2023 at the age of 93. The global inspirational figure was most recently known as the founder and chairman of the Christian Broadcasting Network, which he was instrumental in creating in 1960. He was also the host of The 700 Club, one of the longest running television shows ever. A leading figure in Christian broadcasting, Robertson was a tireless innovator who cardinated campaigns for many important causes, such as the fight against poverty, injustice, and religious persecution. He was a strong advocate for freedom of religion and individual rights, famously stating: “We should stand for religious freedom.” His career also included ventures in business and politics, including a 1988 bid for the Republican presidential nomination. Robertson was an ardent supporter of charitable causes, and authored many books, including inspiring works on prayer and the power of faith. His many supporters, friends, and family will remember him for his exemplary contributions to society and his legacy of hope, which continues to inspire people around the world.
