Otto Warmbier, a 22 year-old student from Cincinnati, Ohio, died on June 19, 2017 after returning to the United States following his detainment in a North Korean prison. Raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Otto was a loyal fan of the Cincinnati Reds, an avid traveler, and a beloved son and brother. He attended Wyoming High School and upon graduation, Otto attended the University of Virginia, where he studied economics. In December of 2015, Otto traveled to North Korea as a tourist, but was soon arrested and accused of a minor crime. He was detained for over a year and a half and eventually returned in a comatose state. Otto passed away days after his return, surrounded by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his commitment to his family, and his relentless strength and determination.
