Otis Redding, the Georgia-born singer and songwriter, tragically passed away on 10th December 1967 at the age of just 26. Redding quickly rose to fame in the early 60s with his groundbreaking soul and R&B recordings. He recorded some of the most influential and iconic soul songs of the era, including "Respect", "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay", "I've Been Loving You Too Long", and "Try a Little Tenderness". As a performer, Redding reached audiences worldwide. He sang and toured with the likes of Sam and Dave, Wilson Pickett and aretha Franklin. Redding was awarded a Grammy posthumously for his hit song "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay" in 1968. Redding was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. He is fondly remembered both as an influential Soul performer, and an innovator in the wider musical community. His timeless music will continue to be remembered for generations to come.
