Ned Beatty, a respected character actor in film, television and theater for more than five decades, passed away on June 13, 2021, at the age of 83. Born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1937, Beatty's television career began in 1964. His many roles included parts on popular shows such as "Kojak," "The Rockford Files" and "Law & Order," as well as memorable work in movies like "Deliverance," "Network," and "Toy Story." He won an Emmy Award in 1977 for his work on "Friend and Lover." Beatty won a Golden Globe in 1992 for his work on the TV movie "Citizen Cohn" and was nominated for Academy Awards for his acting roles in "Network" and "The Fortune." In addition to the Emmy and Golden Globe awards, he was nominated for four other Golden Globe Awards, two BAFTAs and a Tony Award. Beatty was consistently praised for his versatility and range as an actor. His last credits include the 2016 movie "Winter Thaw" and a 2019 episode of the sitcom Hollywood Darlings." Beatty is survived by his wife, actress Jane Walker; their three sons; and their granddaughter.
