Nazia Hassan (April 3, 1965 - August 13, 2000), the Pakistani singer-songwriter and social activist, died on August 13, 2000 at the age of 35. Known for her contributions to the Pakistani pop music industry, Hassan is remembered for her unique vocals, classic melodies, and captivating lyrics. She was the youngest and most successful Pakistani pop singer of her time. Hassan recorded her debut album at the age of 15, making her the first Pakistani to have an international hit single with "Aap Jaisa Koi Meri Zindagi May Aaye." Her second album, Hotline (1986), was awarded triple platinum certification. Her last album, Camera Camera (1992), brought her a second consecutive nomination at the Lux Style Awards. Hassan was also an advocate for social justice and actively pursued social causes. She was the goodwill ambassador of the United Nations for the SAT-P (South Asia Foundation – Pakistan). Hassan will be remembered fondly and her legacy will live on in both the music and social justice industries.
