N.T. Rama Rao, 72, passed away on January 18, 1996. He was an actor, producer, director, and politician, and he was the founder of the Telugu Desam Party. Rama Rao was born on May 28, 1923 in Nimmakuru, India. He came from a background of agriculture and farming. As an actor he first debuted in Telugu Cinema in 1947. During his career, he acted in over 333 films and won an award for his work as a producer for the film Kalathur Kannamma. His foray into politics began in 1982 when he was elected to office in the state of Andhra Pradesh. He was responsible for many successes as chief minister, such as the Jalayagnam irrigation project and the Darsaka Harathi Trailer. Rama Rao is remembered for his immense and selfless contributions to the Telugu film industry as well as for his success and ambition in the field of politics. He will be deeply missed.
