On September 11, 2001, Mohamed Atta passed away in New York City at the age of 33. Originally from Egypt, Atta studied architecture in Germany from 1992 to 1999. During this time, he became radicalized and started to sympathize with Islamic extremism. In 2001, Atta became the leader of the 19 hijackers involved in the terrorist attacks of 9/11. He is remembered for bringing chaos and destruction to New York and Washington D.C. His actions caused the tragic deaths of thousands of people and started a war that has lasted decades. Many lives have been changed forever by Atta’s actions and he will be remembered for this. Atta is survived by his parents and siblings. His legacy will live on in the history of the United States and the world.
