American-german literary historian, professor, translator; resistance fighter and anti-nazi activist, who was executed during wwii in germany.

Born September 16th, 1902 in Milwaukee. [ref]

Died February 16th, 1943 at 40 years old in Plötzensee Prison (decapitation).
