It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mickey Hargitay, who died on September 14th 2006 at the age of 80. He was born in Hungary as Miklos Hargitay in 1926, and he moved to the United States at the age of 19. He was an accomplished actor, having achieved success on stage, film, and television. He had lead roles in many films such as 'Curse of the Faceless Man', 'The Loves of Hercules', and 'The Man from O.R.G.Y.' He appeared in many television roles as well, including 'Martin Kane, Private Eye', 'The New Temperatures Rising Show', and 'The Brady Bunch'. He will also be remembered as a champion bodybuilder, winning the Mr. Universe title in 1955. He capitalized on this success by opening a chain of health clubs and a gym in Hollywood. Mickey Hargitay was married for over 50 years to Hollywood actress Jayne Mansfield, until her death in 1967. He is survived by their three children, Mariska, Zoltan, and Mickey Jr., who went on to pursue their parents' paths and enter careers in show business. The world has lost a beloved entertainer and a generous friend. May his soul find peace.
