American poet Mary Oliver passed away at her home in Provincetown, Massachusetts on January 17, 2019 at the age of 83. Mary Oliver was born on September 10, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio. A pivotal figure in late 20th-century poetry, Oliver was the author of 20 collections of poetry and was the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Pulitzer Prize in 1984 for her collection American Primitive and the National Book Award for New and Selected Poems in 1992.
