Mary Kay Letourneau, 58, of Seattle, Washington, passed away on July 6, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Mary Kay was born in Tustin, California on January 30, 1962. After high school, Mary Kay attended Arizona State University. She said that the true love and highlight of her life was raising her children. Mary Kay was during her lifetime an elementary school teacher, a tutor for disadvantaged youth, and an advocate for those who needed someone to look out for them. In 1996, Mary Kay captured attention across the country when she began a controversial relationship with one of her students. Mary Kay is survived by her four children, her brother, her father, and her husband. Though she faced great criticism during her lifetime, Mary Kay will be remembered as a loving mother and teacher and her countless contributions to the youth of Seattle. Her memory will live on in the hearts of the people whose lives she touched.
