Marcello Mastroianni, beloved Italian actor, died peacefully on December 19, 1996 at the age of 72. He was born in Fontana Liri, Frosinone, Italy on September 28, 1924. He moved to Rome to pursue his love of acting at a young age. During his career, he starred in more than 100 films, which included Oscar-nominated performances in "8 1⁄2" and "Marriage Italian Style". His multiple acclaimed performances earned him recognition throughout the film world and he was even awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995. Marcello Mastroianni was an accomplished actor who earned the admiration of those in the film industry and of film-lovers worldwide. He will be deeply missed.
