Mamnoon Hussain, the 12th President of Pakistan, died on July 14, 2021 at the age of 80. Born in the village of Agror in what is now the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain had a distinguished career in education and public service. His educational accomplishments included earning a Masters’ in Business Administration from the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi. He was an economics professor at the University of Karachi and Chairman of the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design. Hussain was politically active with the All Pakistan Muslim League and served as spokesman for Benazir Bhutto and as an advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He was involved in the founding of the APML party and later became its president. Hussain’s involvement in the public domain earned him the President’s award in 2009. In 2013, he was elected as the 12th President of Pakistan, the first person from the APML party to hold the office. He was an advocate for international cooperation and the promotion of trade between Pakistan and its neighbors. He is survived by his wife, four children, and grandchildren.
