LORETTA LYNN (1932 - 2022) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Loretta Lynn, American Country music singer-songwriter, on October 4, 2022. Her beloved voice leaves us with many cherished memories shared during her 90 years. Ms. Lynn was born in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky in 1932, to a coal miner, and one of eight children. Self-taught on the guitar, along with her siblings, she began her career singing at local music fairs throughout the Appalachians. In 1960, she signed a record deal with Zero Records and was quickly recognized for her signature honky-tonk style. Ms. Lynn went on to earn 64 charted singles throughout her extensive career, including 5 number 1 hits – “Don’t Come Home A Drinkin’”, “Fist City”, “You Ain’t Woman Enough”, “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and “One’s On The Way”. Additionally, she won two Grammy Awards, and over the course of her life had received a Country Music Association “Female Vocalist of the Year” award, Kennedy Center Honors, a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Recording Academy, membership in the Country Music Hall of Fame, and countless others. In her life, Ms. Lynn also published an autobiography, a film was made of her life, and even had a 1985 Broadway musical written about her. She remained active in songwriting, performing and collaborating until her passing in 2022. Ms. Lynn is survived by her husband of 48 years, her six children, sixteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and her legion of fans around the world. We have lost an incredible legend, and our thoughts are with her family.

I wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity. Gilda Radner
