A legendary lyricist, songwriter and singer, Leonard Cohen, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 7th, 2016. He was 82. Cohen spent much of his adult life creating music that resonated with the souls of millions across the globe. His works were filled with humanity and spirituality and were seen by some fans as the ultimate form of poetry. He recorded fourteen studio albums over the years with songs like "Hallelujah" and "Suzanne" that will be cherished for many decades to come. His influence reached far beyond the world of music. He was a celebrated poet knowing for his open-hearted honesty in exploring themes of love, loss, history, identity and faith. Cohen was recognized as one of the few poets to be inducted into the Canadian music hall of fame, and received countless music awards such as the Order of Canada and a Grammy Award Lifetime Achievement Award. Leonard Cohen was not only a beautiful songwriter and performance artist, but a generous philanthropist. He supported a wide array of charities and was one of Canada’s most generous celebrities. He will be remembered for his lasting contributions to the world of art and music.
