Lauren Bacall, one of Hollywood's brightest leading ladies, passed away on August 12, 2014, at the age of 89. Bacall was born Betty Joan Perske in New York City on September 16, 1924. At 19 years of age, she changed her name to Lauren Bacall and began working in acting. In 1944, she starred in To Have and Have Not with then-rising film star Humphrey Bogart, with whom she later married. Together, they had two children, Stephen and Leslie. Bacall was nominated for two Academy Awards and won three Tony Awards. She was also the recipient of a Golden Globe and an honorary Oscar. In addition to roles on stage and screen, Bacall also wrote two memoirs, By Myself and Then Some and Lauren Bacall By Myself. With her grace, beauty and talent, Lauren Bacall lit up the silver screen like no other. She will be deeply missed.
