Kirk Douglas, born Issur Danielovitch, passed away on February 5, 2020, at the age of 103. He was an American actor, producer, director and writer throughout a career that spanned over seven decades, from 1939 to 2018. He was widely known for his leading roles in films like Champion (1949), The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) and Spartacus (1960). Douglas had over 90 credits to his name and was nominated for numerous awards, including three Academy Awards for Best Actor, an Oscar for Lifetime Achievement and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He founded his film production company, Bryna Productions, in 1955, which produced some of his most notable films, including Lust for Life (1956) and Paths of Glory (1957). The actor himself was the subject of a 2003 documentary, A Father, A Son and Hollywood. He was also the author of several books, including The Ragman’s Son (1988) and Let’s Face It (2003). Kirk Douglas is survived by his wife Anne Buydens, their two sons, Michael Douglas and Joel Douglas, and four grandchildren.
