Kenny Rogers, a beloved Country star, died at 81 on March 20, 2020. Kenny was born in Houston, Texas on August 21, 1938. Kenny was an award-winning American singer-songwriter, actor, author, photographer, and entrepreneur. As a prolific artist, he charted a defining path for modern country music, releasing 24 studio albums and 161 charted singles and sold over 50 million records worldwide. Kenny was the best selling performer of the century and had many high-profile hits, such as "The Gambler," "Islands in the Stream," "Lucille," and "Coward of the County." Kenny won three Grammys, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and was especially honored as worldwide entertainer of the year. Kenny favored family time and spent nearly 15 years of semi-retirement, splitting his time between Georgia and his houseboat at Lake Texoma. He was due to go on tour in 2020. Kenny is survived by his wife, Wanda, four children and nine grandchildren. His memory will live on for many generations to come.
