On February 16, 1990, Keith Haring, widely renowned artist, died at the age of 31. Haring was born in Pennsylvania and is best remembered for his work in the Pop Art movement. His pieces featured bold, bright colors, and often featured figures in active poses such as dancing and running. He also founded the Keith Haring Foundation in 1989 that worked to offer aid to children who had tested positive for HIV. During his lifetime, Haring worked with numerous charities, social causes, and institutions. His artwork can be found on display in many of the world's major art galleries, and his influence on modern art is oft cited in popular culture. An influential traveler as well, Haring is remembered for having visited Tokyo, Paris, Vienna, Amsterdam, and Barcelona amongst other cities around the world. Haring will be fondly remembered for the impact his artwork had on popular media and culture, and the contributions he made to charity.
