Legendary English television chef and restaurateur, Keith Floyd, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 14th, 2009 at the age of 65. Keith’s place in culinary history began with his time as a chef in the British Royal Navy. After the Navy, he moved onto separate restaurant businesses, eventually taking his love for cooking abroad. He was one of the earliest celebrity chefs before the rise of cooking shows on television, and his presence, enthusiasm, and charisma made him a natural star when shows like Floyd on Fish and Floyd on Food started airing in the late 80s and 90s. Keith was the author of several best-selling cookbooks and made a lasting impact on the English culinary scene with his unique approach to food. He was known for his love of regional dishes, wines, and his preference for fresh, locally source ingredients. Keith Floyd was an industry pioneer and true culinary innovator. He will be greatly missed.
