Kayla Mueller (1989 – 2015) passed away February 6, 2015 at the age of 26. Kayla was born and raised in Prescott, Arizona, where she attended Prescott High School. She traveled extensively, visiting India, Israel/Palestine, and many other countries before dedicating her life to humanitarian and relief efforts. Kayla moved to the Middle East in 2012, working in the Syrian refugee community. In 2013, she was captured by ISIS and became the longest-held female in the organization’s history. The circumstances of her death are unknown but she is remembered for her dedication to those in need. Kayla’s example inspired many to devote their lives to humanitarian aid and service. In honor of her memory, her family encourages donations to organizations that provide aid to conflict-affected areas.
