On June 11th, 1974, Italian philosopher, Julius Evola, died at the age of 76. Evola was born in Rome on May 19th 1898, and is best known for his philosophical work that explored topics such as mysticism, traditionalism and nationalism. Evola was highly influential throughout his lifetime, particularly in the circles of politics, esoteric thought, traditionalism and Fascism. He studied philosophy, art, music and various Eastern religions, and was the author of numerous books. He drew a great deal of inspiration from both European and Asian traditions, and sought to promote a view of the world and an attitude which he believed could lead to a spiritual liberation that transcended the limitations of the material world. His works were highly influential during the 1950s and ‘60s, and continue to shape many areas of modern thought. He is remembered as being one of the foremost thinkers of the twentieth century and will continue to be a source of inspiration for generations to come.
