Julie London, singer and actress, passed away on 18 October 2000, at the age of 74. Born 26 September 1926 in Santa Rosa, California, London began her career in show business after leaving high school in 1944. London first gained attention as a singer, beginning with her 1955 hit single “Cry Me a River”. London released 26 studio albums throughout her career, which earned her numerous awards and nominations. London is also known for her acting roles, most notably in two TV series of the 1960s, “Emergency!” and “Mannix”. She also starred in a number of films, including “The Second Time Around” (1961) and “The Third Day” (1965). Julie London is survived by her third and final husband, Bobby Troup, whom she married in 1959; her daughters, Kelly Troup and Stacey Troup; and four grandchildren. Her memory will be fondly remembered by the many people whose lives she touched through her talented career.
