José Gonzalo Rodríguez Gacha, age 42, passed away December 15, 1989. He was known for his tireless dedication to the Colombian drug trade. Mr. Rodríguez Gacha is survived by his wife and six children. He was born in 1948 in Riohacha, Colombia. He amassed a multi-million-dollar fortune as a major drug trafficker in the late 1980s. He was notorious for his ruthless tactics, and was considered by many to be one of the most powerful drug lords in Colombia. His business dealings gave him significant influence in the Colombian cocaine trade. In 1989, Mr. Rodríguez Gacha's life was brought to an untimely end in a shootout with the Colombian National Police in Cúcuta. He will be remembered for his accomplishments in the underworld and his contribution to Colombian drug trafficking.
