U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson died suddenly on Wednesday, 2019-12-19 at the age of 76. Isakson was born on December 28, 1944 in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1966 and served three years in the Georgia Air National Guard. He earned his law degree from Georgia State University and went into the real estate business. Isakson went on to serve in the Georgia Senate from 1976-1990 and the U.S. House from 1999-2005. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004 and re-elected in 2010 and 2016. During his time in office, he was a champion of bipartisan compromise and a profound supporter of veterans and members of the armed services, taking the lead in bipartisan legislation to improve services for veterans. Isakson is survived by his wife Diana, daughter Amanda and son Randy, six grandchildren, and his brother, Neil. He was an enthusiastic photographer and fly fisherman whose passion for life will be remembered by all. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and the State of Georgia.
