John Denver, renowned singer, songwriter, and humanitarian, passed away on October 12, 1997, at the age of 53. John's career in folk music began in 1963, and he quickly rose to fame with hit songs such as "Leaving on a Jet Plane", "Take Me Home, Country Roads", "Rocky Mountain High", "Annie's Song", and "Sunshine on My Shoulders". He held numerous awards and was honored with notable honors such as the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and the BBC Awards. His numerous successful albums sold millions of copies worldwide. John was also an active advocate of environmental causes, with a focus on humanitarian aid, nuclear disarmament, and world peace. John was beloved by his fans and family, and is remembered fondly as one of the most influential folk music performers of the 20th century. He will be dearly missed.
