It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joey Jordison, the renowned drummer and songwriter, who died on 2021-07-26 at age 46. Joseph "Joey" Jordison was born on April 26, 1975, in Des Moines, Iowa. During his formative years, he discovered a deep passion for the drums. He honed his skills while in high school and was quickly recognized as a force in the Des Moines music scene. In 1995, at the age of 20, Joey released his debut studio album, Kill on Command, as the drummer of heavy metal band Slipknot. With his unique playing ability and dexterous drumming, the record proved to be a crucial point in his career and propelling him into stardom. Over the course of his following work with Slipknot, Jordison served as the primary songwriter for the band and contributed in creating of five of the band's albums. In addition to Slipknot, Joey also worked with various heavy metal bands such as Murderdolls, Rob Zombie, and Ministry, as well as his own side project Scar the Martyr. He was also the founder of the vinyl-only label imprint SicSonik Records, which he launched in 2008. Joey was an energetic performer and an amazing songwriter who was well-loved and will be deeply missed by his fans. Our hearts go out to Jordison's family. May he rest in peace.
