Joseph Besser (1907-1988), a much beloved comedian and actor, passed away on March 1, 1988 at the age of 80. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Besser started out as a prop man at the Chicago Theater in 1929. After a brief stint in a comedy act, he joined The Three Stooges in 1952 and stayed with them for two years before embarking on a solo career. His performances on the big screen and in television programs captured the public's imagination with his signature comedic style and characters. Throughout his career, Besser received critical acclaim for his work, including a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the 1952 film "The Suicide Squadron". He continued to take on various acting roles until his retirement in 1987. Besser's life was commemorated throughout the entertainment industry by peers, fans, and admirers alike. He left behind a legacy of heartfelt performances, laughter, and fond memories.
