Jimmy Hoffa, 69, passed away on July 30th, 1982. An American labor union leader, Hoffa was most known for his involvement with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He rose to the position of President in 1957, and later formed a syndicate of other labor unions in 1977. His early career included a variety of labor-related jobs; he worked as a draw tender, a barge unloader, and a warehouse employee, among other things. Hoffa spent more than four years in prison for fraud and jury tampering. His involvement in other criminal cases was never legally proven and eventually dropped in 1975. He vanished mysteriously in 1975 and remains missing to this day. Hoffa was born in 1913 in Brazil, Indiana. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and five grandchildren.
